Methodology

Are you struggling where to start with digitalisation in the Process Industry? Do you have difficulties identifying who can lead this initiative in your organisation?

We invite you to a DX-DMAIC™ discovery conversation about our approach to digital transformation. This covers where to start, the team to assign, the available options, what the risks are and what the journey looks like. During this workshop we prepare the charter, which is the starting point of an exciting journey for your organization.

The DX-DMAIC™ Model

Our methodology is based on our experience managing large automation projects (OT) and implementing global initiatives (IT). It is enriched and updated by training and experience with Six Sigma and Agile leadership.

Why apply Six Sigma methodology

Why - Applying Six Sigma results in business value

  1. Improve quality of output by identifying and eliminating causes of defects.

  2. Reduction of variability in business and manufacturing processes.

  3. Value targets include improving customer satisfaction, minimizing operating costs, reducing pollution, boosting profits, and reducing cycle time.

What - Measurement based strategy

  1. It’s a set of techniques and tools that help organizations improve business processes.

  2. Every project adheres to a series of well-defined steps aimed at reaching specific value targets.

  3. It provides a quantitative description of how a business or manufacturing process is performing.

How - Implementation methodologies

  1. Consistency plays an integral role when it comes to reducing process variation, which contributes to the viability of businesses.

  2. Commitment at all levels of an organization is vital for sustained quality improvement.

  3. DMAIC: (define, measure, analyze, improve, control) This sub-methodology is used to rectify under-performing processes.

  4. DMADV: (define, measure, analyze, design, verify) A practical way to develop new products or processes at Six Sigma quality levels.

Engagement and Delivery

Our engagement starts with a discovery conversation where we identify opportunities for innovation and digital transformation. This is done in person (virtually or on-premise), inviting relevant specialists in areas of Digital Transformation, Knowledge Management, Internal and External portals, Information Security and Capability Maturity.

This discovery is followed by a presentation where we explain the various opportunities to improve productivity, streamline internal processes, improve information security and other areas as discussed during the assessment.

The delivery, deployment and review of achieved improvements is then discussed and decided as a joint engagement both virtually and on-premise. We engage our experienced partner to handle the change management process using master classes.

We practice transfer of innovative ways of working with your assigned champions and follow through with lifecycle services to drive continuous improvement by training your key resources to lead your company into a bright digital future.

Mindset Change

Change is a challenge any organization and is therefore to be planned carefully. Each person needs to feel involved and in control of the change affecting his work. this will motivate him to accept the challenges ahead.

We can identify 4 important phases to be planned before we can move to the implementation phase:

  1. Breaking the news: Communicating the vision and change required in mindset, skills, work-style, and work processes.

  2. Learn by doing: The digital champions in each function are authorised to lead the digital change using Proof of Value trials.

  3. Making it permanent: Staying agile while implementing the planned changes, overcoming the resistance to change of the majority of employees.

  4. Adopting the new digital normal: Share early successes while deploying tools and processes in all functions in the company.

Suitable improvements will be considered based on best-in-class industry practices, with a focus to achieve short and mid term productivity gains. Areas of focus are Digitisation, Digitalisation, Information Security and System Integration.
